We're tired of all the negative news associated with incarceration. There is an antidote to cynicism and negativity, and it starts by accepting [inmates] as human beings.

We wanted to tell the truth. We didn't think they'd sue us because they're a nonprofit, but they did. They sued a lot of people.

Just when we thought it was over.

It was an emotional rollercoaster. We had that hope one time and then the next time we had bad news. But we kind of knew that [Terry Helms] was probably the first one to go because of his job and where he got off of the belt. But we're dealing with it.

Cynicism was a one-way path, and once taken the way back was lost forever.

All I have to be thankful for in this world is that I was sitting down when my garter busted.
