We want them to connect outside of the classroom with other kids and with adults.

We want to go into this with an open mind. We don't want it to be a case of we set something up. I think with these nontraditional-type students, we need to appeal to them.

I went into the classroom and let the kids listen to my daughter's heartbeat and feel my stomach. My daughter was moving and the kids got to feel her kicking. They loved it.

You can do a lot with this classroom and it really is effective with many different kinds of kids. It's beautiful stuff.

They make it so that 95 percent of the kids in that (Quinn) classroom actually want to get up and go to school,
