We instituted a [Purchase Order] system and [street superintendent] John [Bradley] has done a good job with that. That's really made a difference in how much we spend.

We do have quite a bit, but we buy it from the state and the state says you have to buy so much each year to be able to continue to buy it. Fortunately, we built a big salt barn a few years ago. We will have some outside that we'll cover up, but most of it will be in the salt barn.

That's a large part of it. I was also short an employee and we haven't had to replace that person so that makes a difference as well.

We are always doing maintenance and repairs on our lines, making sure everything is safe and in working order.

In order to qualify for Vision Iowa grants, businesses will have to pay $20.32 an hour in Plymouth County. That's the only downside to it. We have pushed wage standards up in the county.

I've assisted in stimulating economic growth and help existing businesses in order to create a large tax base.
