We have approximately 1,200 kids in the high school and this affects everyone. Tragedies like this are terribly traumatizing. What we try to do is to bring as much help as possible to the situation immediately as we can.

Kids are really afraid to come to high school. It's a big step.

We've got a crisis intervention team that comes in and this is comprised of professional psychologists, counselors from throughout the community that come in like a SWAT team, if you will, to help with all the emotional issues being dealt with.

It's brutal no matter how it happens, but even if it happens to us as an adult, when something like this happens in the same building you're in, whether you know the person or not, you feel it more intensely.

We feel that there are so many kids who need adopting. We thought we'd do it after having a couple of our own, but we just changed our mind.

That was a great effort from our kids in the second half. We hoped our pressure would finally break them and I think it did.
