The other thing that happens in the home visit is we might find out they also need pots and pans or something like that. Because the need has been validated with a form, they can take the form to the thrift store, and we'll give them what they need.

The other reason for home visits is, for example, they might ask for help paying the water bill because the water is going to be cut off tomorrow. Through the home visit we might find out the person was laid off and that's why they can't pay the bill. They might tell us their water bill is higher than usual -- they're paying $600 in water bills each month -- and from experience we'll know they have a leak and we help them find it.

We'll sell to anybody. With the profits we pay our electricity, gas and water. After that, through our district council, we route the money to individual conferences for when they run out of their funds.

It's amazing when we make a home visit how many people you see that have absolutely nothing. We really appreciate everything that we can get, so we can give it to somebody else.

At every home I visit, people are asking for tax relief. That is consistent and persistent.
