The interpretation that Judaism is a religion of law and Christianity is a religion of love is a long-standing interpretation, but that is a misconception of Judaism.

This is not an uncommon impression and one finds it sometimes among Jews as well as Christians--that Judaism is the religion of the Hebrew Bible. It is of course a fallacious impression. Judaism is not the religion of the Bible.

Pharisaism became Talmudism, Talmudism became Medieval Rabbinism, and Medieval Rabbinism became Modern Rabbinism. But throughout these changes in name...the spirit of the ancient Pharisees survives, unaltered...

Biblical, Talmudic, or Koranic literalists remind me of children wrinkling their noses at Belon oysters and asking for more Chef Boy-E-Dee. They want the world to be as simple as they are.
