Public broadcasters, libraries and museums have a unique ability to connect people to their communities, and communities to the resources, ideas, and knowledge that they need to solve problems. Using these grants, public broadcasters, museums, and libraries in the seven communities will be able address local concerns in tangible and valuable ways.

If they managed the city budget better, I would think they would not have to close down libraries and museums.

There's been a declining audience for network TV for a while, People have their own libraries of things they specifically want to see, which competes for TV viewing time. More options is good news for the consumer but bad news for the networks, who are responsible for the most expensive hours of TV produced. It'll be harder and harder to maintain an audience that justifies that business model.

People who go to places of worship, people who go to libraries, people who are in chat rooms, are going to have 'Big Brother' listening in even though there's no evidence that they are involved in anything illegal whatsoever.

I continually hear people say that having libraries open is part of their need for normalcy. We greatly appreciate all of the support we have received and continue to receive [because] it makes the light at the end of the tunnel that much brighter.

We want to capture the 90 percent of people who think libraries are a good idea, but who don't use it.
