Newsom and his people made it clear to all city departments that if they're dealing with us, they've got to keep us at arm's length. City departments aren't allowed to talk to us directly or deal with us directly without the Mayor's Office being involved.

While the general consumer has no problem using general travel portals, we feel that the affluent traveler has specific information needs that can only be found by providing a deeper level of service that is closer to concierge level than typically provided by the mass travel market.

While phase one is strictly informational we are currently developing a network of charter jet, luxury motor yacht, executive ground transportation companies as well as all inclusive resorts that are geared to meet the needs of the affluent traveler.

Over all the years of doing this stuff, we've made a lot of FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] requests. I've never had someone be so reluctant to give up what's public. This is the worst example I've seen, ever, of public officials who refuse to give up public documents.

Asking for this information is important. You've got to have open government ? if it's not open, there are some serious problems for the future.

We did better than a lot of people expected us to, but we still could have done better.
