Over all the years of doing this stuff, we've made a lot of FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] requests. I've never had someone be so reluctant to give up what's public. This is the worst example I've seen, ever, of public officials who refuse to give up public documents.

Asking for this information is important. You've got to have open government ? if it's not open, there are some serious problems for the future.

More than two years after we filed our Freedom of Information Act request, the FBI continues to withhold documents that the public clearly has a right to see. As we've been saying from the outset, the public has a right to know what the government's policies were and who put them in place.

While the general consumer has no problem using general travel portals, we feel that the affluent traveler has specific information needs that can only be found by providing a deeper level of service that is closer to concierge level than typically provided by the mass travel market.

Where the disclosure is of newsworthy information and it is made by an entity that did not act illegally in obtaining the information, the disclosure is generally protected under the First Amendment.

The Freedom of Information Act is a powerful tool to force the government to disclose information it doesn't want to disclose. Today's requests will pull back the veil of secrecy that the National Security Agency, the Department of Defense and the FBI have used to hide unlawful surveillance.
