It's the idea that what you're buying reflects who you are, what your values are. It's not overtly political ... [but] it's someone who has sort of hippie values with a yuppie pocketbook.

But there is a deeper part of it, a yearning for some kind of centeredness, a feeling of mindfulness, making the world a better place as opposed to contributing to its demise.

People have been seeking out spirituality forever. And I think we live in a very consumerist and market-driven country. So it makes sense that the two would sort of collide in this way.

MoMA is one of the world's great cultural institutions with one of the world's premier Boards and Museum leadership. It is my distinct pleasure to work with such a talented and highly qualified group.
