It wasn't the plan to go 2-3. But there were a lot of quality teams there. When you get a look at a lot of different lineups and pitchers, you don't know what's going to happen.

Probably the two largest changes in these 44 years have been in quality and price. In 1962, I could sell a new Ford pickup for $2,000. Now, a pickup of similar properties would cost about $20,000.

Riley has been consistent for us all year. He didn't have his greatest fastball, but he had excellent off-speed stuff that got him out of jams. Sixty percent of his pitches were strikes, and that always helps.

He had a good game on offense and defense. It's good that he is proving that he can play at shortstop and not just be limited to second base. So that was huge for us.

I think that helped us get ready for a game like this. Madison is a quality club, and it's easy to see in a game like this. ... We gave (the fans) their money's worth.
