I would not encourage anybody to start drinking if they do not already do so. People should also realize that they cannot 'save up' for one binge-drinking session.

Whenever people say "we mustn't be sentimental", you can take it they are about to do something cruel. And if they add, "we must be realistic", they mean they are going to make money out of it.

Drinking makes such fools of people, and people are such fools to begin with that it's compounding a felony.

We frequently hear of people dying from too much drinking . . . that this happens is a matter of record. But the blame almost always is placed on whiskey. Why this should be I never could understand. You can die from drinking too much of anything. . . .

I think it was just the fact that people were drinking 1-ounce martinis and having no way to track how much they had to drink. 'Cause it was, you know, they're martinis. They taste great, and you don't pay attention.

So often, young people don't know when to quit drinking, ... They end up in the emergency room getting their stomachs pumped.
