I wanted to write about humanity, inhumanity and the cost of warfare.... And what we wanted to do on the show is tell that story of humanity, where you can't tell where one begins and another ends.

David and I drink a lot of rum together and I tell stories.

It's fantasy, it's television, it's not for real. But it can put you back in the moment. I did have some moments where I had to turn around and walk away.

Had you come in here with only an action series, I would have passed. But when you said the wives, the sweethearts, that depth of humanity, that's when you had me.

It is easier to love humanity as a whole than to love one's neighbor.

To have the opportunity to work with Tiger Woods was just so awesome. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the challenge. I enjoyed the good parts where he was winning. And I enjoyed the challenge to help him get better. But six years was enough.
