People nowadays don't treat their dogs as property. Dogs are seen as members of the family.

The kids were talking about how important their dogs were to them. My daughter said, 'Hey, Dad, that's what you should do. You should start a dog magazine.' I laughed it off, but then began to think about it.

Mostly what gets people's attention is seeing their own dog's picture in the magazine.

We'd love to have people come by on a regular basis. If you want to spend time with our dogs and cats, just come in and say, 'I'm here.' We also have a volunteer orientation program where we train volunteers to help clean cages and help with customer service.

It's time really for the White House to send their people up here. Let's get to the tables. Let's get it negotiated. And let's get it done. It's altogether possible that would be done if they'll just come to work.
