Because desperation breeds gullibility. People want to lose weight so much that their common sense shuts off.

Common sense will tell you that we're only going to get more of these as people get more desperate,

A lot of people are doing something about their weight, but by their own reckoning, it isn't enough to get the results they want.

Sadly, only something like 10 to 12 percent of people are able to recover from a weight regain. The people who do manage to turn it around catch it quickly, even with just two pounds regained.

In this life you've got to hope for the best, prepare for the worst and take whatever God sends.
