You're burning a fuel to create a fuel. It doesn't seem very efficient to use what is a valuable energy source to turn rock into oil.

There is an immediate need that must be addressed. However, the committee believes that approval of either of the current proposals would be an even bigger mistake. The current jail problem was one that was created over many years of inaction. The solution will not be implemented overnight.

The No No Committee is concerned and will be reviewing whether the commissioners have violated Texas law.

Therefore, the committee believes that a majority of the commissioners court that will be in office in January opposes the current bond election. Consequently, the No No Committee believes that the current jail proposals do not accurately reflect the will of the citizens of Smith County.

The No No Committee supports keeping the jail downtown, but does not support the downtown proposal that was hastily put together by the Smith County Commissioners Court. Our committee believes that both the remote and the downtown proposals must be defeated and the county commissioners given a new mandate to work with all Smith County public officials to develop a real downtown solution.

It's an accelerated process; we're worried that they will go too fast and they won't look hard enough (for potential environmental impacts).
