You look at what you accomplished last year and you always try to set a higher standard for your team, as well as for your organization, ... We've been fortunate enough here to do some things that we wanted to get done. It's not all we want to get done yet, but I think we're heading on the right path.

I addressed that six weeks ago. I still stand on what I said. I'm coach of the Jets. The season will end, we'll try to get this thing going in the right direction. We've got a lot of things to do here.

Ray Lewis has done it, been in the Super Bowl, been in some Pro Bowls, so I think Jonathan Vilma kind of looks at him as a former Miami player and understands he has some attributes like Ray. Now it's just a matter of him playing to that level. As he progresses and becomes better, he has that potential.

He was always behind Anthony, he fell into that trap where I can do just enough to be OK, ... Now that you're a starter, you can't just be OK. You have to play at a level for us to win. That's good for us.

He caught a lot of balls in one game all of a sudden. That's good. That helps you. ... I think he did a good job blocking. He's a good player. We drafted him as a blocking tight end who can catch the ball. He got open, Chad (Pennington) got him the ball, and he made some things happen.

We couldn't go 3-and-out on that first series; that was not going to be tolerated.
