Women are moving to the forefront. Cities have a very rich opportunity to focus on making their cities attractive and appealing to women.

There's no question these are the people you want today. But you're going to have to adjust your thinking about how to attract them.

Another benefit of this is that it will bring the brightest, most talented college graduates in the country to Memphis. Some of them will choose to stay, but they all will have direct experience with the city and they can be great ambassadors for us. The people they touch are the people we want to attract.

Most economic development in the past has been about recruiting businesses to a region. But we are entering new territory - where we will have to recruit people instead.

It's good to start over. It will be scary but you will see what you're really made of; it's the best opportunity to achieve what you never thought you could.
