Without a doubt, the basketball scandal (of 2003 under then-head coach Dave Bliss) was the most trying time. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. It was agonizing, and the most agonizing part was the effect it had on the families.

I think they were trying to be sensitive. Obviously, Baylor is a Baptist-affiliated institution, and Baptists as a denomination have been pretty outspoken on the record about the denomination's views about the homosexual lifestyle.

Basketball started for me in this city and I want to be here when it's finally time for me to stop, ... I'm not here to retire. I'm here to help build something that will be around for a long time.

However, I'm disappointed that he isn't trying to find out how this scandal was allowed to happen, ... I think we need a thorough, broad and independent investigation so that we can restore baseball's credibility.
