Will it (the speech) change what's already scheduled to happen in Congress? Not one iota.

The loud voices, punchy arguments and simple headlines from governments, politicians and anti-immigration groups will often be easier to hear. The other side has a harder job, because theirs is the more sophisticated argument, offering humane, progressive and enlightened policies in the midst of an emotional debate.

He's truly a renaissance individual for our times, ... I've likened him to a Will Rogers voice in Congress (with) humor (and) common sense. He brought real legislative achievements, working on environmental issues for Southern California ... working on issues for the voters of California by protecting their will against activist judges. He was a well-rounded and dedicated lawmaker.

I'm a little worried that the political momentum that we witnessed this week may dissipate somewhat.

It's a big day for us. We may not have a lot of big days, but this is a big day.

The Sensenbrenner bill has proven to be one of the great mobilizing forces for the pro (immigration) reform alliance in this country.
