Why would our brains have this capacity to sense the oneness of the universe, a sense that can be induced in many ways, even technological, if that capacity did not reflect an external reality?

She had been his patient for over 20 years. An elderly woman with severe arthritis, she had been the piano teacher for generations of children in her small rural community... now her condition had worsened to the point that her deformed hands no longer allowed her to play. During a routine visit her physician noted this progression of her disease and empathized with her. "I know that the pain associated with your condition is really a problem.
