While only a rag doll with a few red yarn strands of hair, she has been loved for generations. Parents enjoy the positive memories of their own childhood and sharing those stories with their children.

Too much technology in a toy reduces time spent on developing social and character skills needed for life.

We are a community of layers of generations. In 1990, my parents were still in the house where I grew up. I had moved to Europe, lived in Atlanta. But every time I meet somebody who has a connection to my past. It's this wonderful network of people and families.

You see parents as kind or unkind or happy or miserable or drunk or sober or great or near-great or failed the way you see a table square or a Montclair lip-read. Kids today... you kids today somehow don't know how to feel, much less love, to say nothing of respect. We're just bodies to you. We're just bodies and shoulders and scarred knees and big bellies and empty wallets and flasks to you. I'm not saying something cliché like you take us for granted so much as I'm saying you cannot... imagine our absence. We're so present it's ceased to mean. We're environmental. Furniture of the world.

If we can get them to understand that saying "no" to drugs is rebelling against their parents and the generations of the past, we'd make it an enormous success.
