If they had a problem, they should have said so. Her hair was bright orange, so we changed the color. It was an 8-inch Mohawk, so we cut it. One day it's one thing, the next day another.

Now he's saying she has to wear it (combed) down. What was the purpose of having me cut it off?

It would be unreasonable to conclude this will be a permanent change. That balance is going to continue to fluctuate.

The girls are very determined and focused. Every day, they're trying to get better. We see it in the gym. They're not satisfied with what they're doing. They're going for the extra tenths or two, while looking to stay consistent. That takes a lot of intensity.

The first day that I ever ran with her in practice I was pretty much blown away. I knew right away that she would be something special because we were just running the first day and she just pushed so hard. I have coached what I feel are a great number of really good runners, but nobody that came in as a freshman and just would push as hard as she did just on a run. I just knew that she had an inner edge that I hadn't coached yet.
