What is in our favor is we are such a good district. We have high test scores, we have wonderful students, and good parent support. It's a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

I think that Pickens County will do their best to address the facility needs and the teacher salary needs. And I think in five years we will be very competitive in those two areas. But even so, with the number of teachers retiring and leaving the profession I think it's going to be an issue statewide as well as nationally.

There are two things in our district that we need to work on that would help us recruit the best and brightest and that is to increase teacher salaries and improve facilities.

Obviously we are going to every recruitment fair in the state of South Carolina that we can get to. We're trying to get out there and recruit just as hard as we can.

There are many, many new laws -- things that are on the books that we don't all understand or know about and so we need to investigate and determine if there was a law that was broken.

The people that were in the building were the principal's relatives and she was playing a practical joke on them. They had come to tour the school and it was a practical joke.
