What I think makes the exhibit work so well is that Michael did extensive research on the subject before selecting its images. He then took about a month to put them together.

Every time we come back for another opening, there's another light, another wall painted and 25 more people. This really is an arts cultural center.

We scientists typically are good at doing our research, but we're not so good at communicating it to the public -- its relevance and why we should spend taxpayer dollars to fund it.

The work we're doing will be available for others to research, and if they like the concept they could build on it.

In class work, it is easy to learn only what is needed for a grade. When doing research, I try to understand what I am studying completely. Another great thing about it is that I get to work one on one with professors in my field.
