We will be prepared when the trial commences in the Senate to go forward with the evidence, to present witnesses and to present a case that they can make a good judgment on.

If I were present in the Senate I would vote for ratification of the CWC [Chemical Weapons Convention] because of the many improvements that have been agreed to,

I think in the end, we'll have a trial, ... We will render a verdict, as the Senate has on 15 other occasions, in those 15 cases where there was an impeachment in the House and where the person impeached did not resign first.

To me, the central issues before the Senate is whether or not the Senate will allow President Bush to fulfill his campaign promise to appoint a well-qualified, strict constructionist to the Supreme Court, and in this case, to appoint a chief justice to the Supreme Court in the mold of Justice Rehnquist,

Even a small city like ours will feel a major impact if this (bill) is passed in the Senate.

When the Senate returns they will consider a number of options to change the system and better enforce the existing rules. Sen. Talent has always been an advocate for positive change and he will thoughtfully consider ways to improve the system as the Senate prepares to debate the issue.
