We wanted an image of Zachariah Connell, but no portraits are known to exist, so we created a hypothetical one, based on period dress and Connell's profession.

The off-center portrait (of Lincoln and Hamilton) has been enlarged; the fine lines printed behind both the portraits are now much more difficult to replicate than the earlier original,

Portraits are supposed to "look within," but in my opinion very few people have an interior significantly different from the outside portrait.

We bought portraits and blazers for each of the champs. I remember Bill asking me how we were going to pay for that. We decided to raise the sponsor fees for the bowlers from $50 to $100. That paid for the blazers.

Chris does large portraits -- 48 inches by 48 inches. His vision is also unique.

You could call it a collection of self-portraits. Each photographer has really photographed himself.
