We want it to be as normal as possible for the kids.

We have a lot of fun doing it. We have people here that don't even have kids here anymore.

Half of our kids quit at one time or another during the season. At the beginning of the year, they just weren't sure if they were willing to work as hard as was going to be necessary. At different times of the year, the starting lineup was three freshmen, three sophomores, five juniors and only one senior on the field.

I was not developmentally disabled, but didn't mature at the same rate other kids did.

Custodians are very hard-working and have kept it looking so new. We have always tried to teach the kids to keep it clean and if they see paper or garbage, to pick it up.

The kids that were supposed to win won. And the kids we needed to make a difference really stepped up today and made a difference.
