We urge the U.N. mission to work more efficiently with the Haitian police so that the elections can be held in peace.

They need to do better than what is going on to make a dent in the fear that is affecting a million people in the Port-au-Prince area. We don't want them to kill anyone. But we want them to do strategic operations to get the criminals out.

The pre-election violence is a terrorist activity, with political goals.

There was some consolation for them in that the person responsible was still on scene when police arrived.

These amendments ensure transparency of police investigations.

We want to see elections held ... allowing for the institutions to work as we originally envisaged, ... The atmosphere of all of the parties has been to try to achieve that.
