We still have too many students 12 to 17 who are drinking excessively but we don't have an epidemic. We have a declining problem. That's the fact of it.

We encourage students to talk to a counselor or their physician. [The student] is advised that their drinking is at a higher level.

They are there for security of students, not to bust underage drinking.

There were several of the students there that had been drinking. That's pretty clear. We could smell alcohol on the breath of several of them,

Service is an integral part of our school community. Students are involved in countless programs during the school year. This is our attempt to continue that commitment through the summer.

If they just wanted to deter it [underage drinking], they would wear uniforms. But what they want is to bust people.
