We started slow but steadily pulled away. It was a total team effort.

This has been a fun bunch to coach. Other coaches have complemented the kids on the way they play and that's a great reflection on the type of kids these players are.

We started out slow but put it away in the second half. Burlington is a well-coached team and took away a lot of the things we did the first game. To our kids' credit they adjusted and are starting to understand the need to improvise.

I think we're smarter than that. I know this: We better have a great effort and handle ourselves. If not, we'll get beat.

We can talk about it all we want to. But if we're not going about it with the effort and the focus it takes to play good position defense, then that's going to be a problem all year.

It looks like the new owners have really put some effort into everything. So far, they seem like they're really working to correct the sins of the past.
