We needed to explain to him why, which we have done. As far as an apology, I believe it was necessary to prove we did the right thing.

Obviously the council needs to figure out what criteria they're looking for. They indicated they're going to do a national search. Part of the process is to determine what traits and skill sets they're looking for in a city manager. I don't know what direction council wants to go. That obviously will be a huge factor for candidates both internal and external.

This allegation was involving Mr. Briatta and involved one of our employees. There was a little bit more [to it] than saying somebody got better service. Since the minute the Auburn game ended, there were a lot of questions from the press - 'Can you follow this up?' Tech is 1-3 in games following an upset of a Top 25 team under Gailey, so it's certainly been a problem ... but I think right now there are enough senior leaders on this team that have seen what happened in the past and are determined not to let that happen again. If they lose this game it's not going to be because they weren't focused and ready to play.
