We may eventually see smaller libraries, as it is no longer the case that everything is going to tape. But there is so much data these days that there is room for both tape and disk to grow.

Tape is here for a long time to come. Very few users are completely abandoning tape despite growing interest in D2D and virtual tape. It has a definite future in backup and archiving.

Libraries really are wonderful. They're better than bookshops, even. I mean bookshops make a profit on selling you books, but libraries just sit there lending you books quietly out of the goodness of their hearts.

The first thing naturally when one enters a scholar's study or library, is to look at his books. One gets a notion very speedily of his tastes and the range of his pursuits by a glance round his book-shelves.

Every library should try to be complete on something, if it were only the history of pinheads.
