We know the services has not been up to usual standards, but we're working on it.

There is no effort or study under way to consolidate the entire facility. We want to see if it makes sense to use the additional capacity in Houston. There are areas across the country where we're looking at total consolidation. Beaumont is not one of them.

What that means for customers is that they're going to see a remarkable turnaround time and a return to the normal service standards that we've had prior to Katrina.

We would likely make a motion on Monday (for approval), assuming we?re satisfied with the criteria. Then there would be a 30-day opportunity for public input, and a final order.

Is it a federal crime? Technically, yes. These mailboxes are designed for the sole usage of the postal service to serve customers. Items such as fliers or anything outside of correspondence or other mail matters is prohibited.

We also rely on the residents as the primary way to determine if the boxes have been vandalized or if they need maintenance. We have contractors who perform repair and maintenance.
