We hope a lot of people can join us in this collaborative effort to improve the lives of children in our community.

The goal of the Recruitment Council is to bring together community partners with diverse backgrounds to share ideas and expertise in the area of recruitment of adult helpers.

That means we can go to places with a common front as a recruitment council. We will be helping each other for one purpose, which is to help these kids.

All of us can think of a book that we hope none of our children or any other children have taken off the shelf. But if I have the right to remove that book from the shelf -- that work I abhor -- then you also have exactly the same right and so does everyone else. And then we have no books left on the shelf for any of us.

You read a lot about the effort and you don't hear a lot about the children.

Children helping children is one of the most heartening aspects of the enormous relief effort.
