We have two roles, education and advocacy. The league is a political organization, but nonpartisan. It doesn't take positions on political (candidates) or parties, but it will on issues.

She was attracted by the warm weather and she had a friend out here.

She had been on the board in one capacity or another since 1992. She believed the public should have a say in land-use issues and encouraged conservation. She fought for the community.

This is just something we do to get parents more involved with their children's education. We all want parents to be really involved because that's the key to your child's education.

We actually call it Parish Religious Education Programs. The demand is growing. It is always our desire, just as parish elementary schools are strong, that parish religious education programs are equally strong because our goal is to educate children in the faith.

People say throwing money at the system isn't going to solve it, but in education, they're wrong. We need more money.
