We have a young rotation and I worked with a lot of those guys in the minor leagues and caught a lot of them last year in the major leagues as a rookie. I feel like I have a pretty good relationship with all the pitchers.

Cota is a great player and we've got a good rapport. I learned a lot from him. I pick his brains because he's been there. He's been real supportive.

That was a very aha moment. It was, 'I'm in the big leagues.'

We brought these guys in to do a job. We have to get them into a rotation out there and put them in a position to pitch effectively.

When I managed in the minor leagues, I think I learned that,

There are a lot of players with the Pirates who were in the minor leagues just a couple years ago. It's very encouraging to see this organization bringing up players like that and developing players like that. It's definitely a good incentive to work hard and see where it takes you.
