We have a Congress and a Senate that are being led by aspirations of staying in control. They are using immigration to hype up non-people of color. So instead of bringing people together, they are dividing this country.

We've accomplished, as a team, more than many other members -- probably most other members of the Congress and Senate -- accomplish in an entire lifetime, and I appreciate that very much,

[O]n the day after that happened, the beneficiary was George W. Bush. The Senate, the Congress united, and the American people lost through the Patriot Act and the American people lost through a war on the basis of a lie and $340 billion of the taxpayers' money has been spent and there is no end in sight,

What we want to achieve is to send a very strong message to the Senate, to the Congress in general and this administration that immigrants are fed up, that we are tired, that we work very hard.

If you look at Reagan who had two [failed Supreme Court] nominees, who lost control of the Senate and had Iran-contra, did he still have a successful final three years? Absolutely, ... One of the great strengths of this team has been from the beginning their ability to keep their eye on the big picture and long-term [goals], while also dealing with short-term challenges.

It would really wake up the Congress and Senate. You can't just make laws against people and not expect repercussions.
