We had some timely hits in the fourth. We were also aided by their (pitching) staff.

We didn't make a lot of errors (three), but the ones we made they sure took advantage of. It was a frustrating first game, but a good rebound in the second game; the kids showed a little character in the second game.

I don't know if we came out with the right intensity early to hit the ball. If we win that, it puts us in a tremendous driver's seat. But now we've got to get it done next time. It obviously was a very big game for them, and they responded quite well.

That hit was the difference, it blew the game open. We swung the bats really well today.

Not a bad effort for our first day of competition.

I've worked with a lot of first-time directors who kind of look to me for ideas and opinions and stuff, and I'm a team player.
