We did it by hand, me and her.

We would hold hands. That was allowed. But (the chaperon) was always behind us.

The first year, we planted 20 sacks of Irish potatoes. But the back water came in - we didn't have a levee then - it took most of the crop. We only made enough to pay for the fertilizer and the seed. So, we planted 25 sacks the next year but the same thing happened. For two years we didn't make anything.

I stayed with that for three years. Then, I decided to go into farming.

No matter what came up we never did stop. It's hard work that keep us here.

I'm just happy if we make (the playoffs). If we don't make it to Augusta, it's still a successful season. They work hard and I enjoyed them this year.
