We believe most rescue activity is a public safety function. If I get into a car wreck and the police come to the wreck, I don't get a bill from the police officer for his time. So why should I get a bill from a county sheriff if I need a rescue?

Police officers and firemen have safety training and protective equipment. The most a taxi driver might have is a Plexiglas window.

We walk the streets and talk to businesses, put in applications for health and safety, and talk to the police department.

The physical agility test is pass/fail. The public safety department will administer a standard police examination, and candidates will have interviews with members of public safety and an administrator from across campus.

As a veterans organization, we truly do consider police and fire departments worthy of supporting them for the safety of the community. We feel they are deserving of our gaming dollars. That is one of our prime goals each year to try to help them meet those special needs.

Our president has been in touch with state police and the Executive Office of Public Safety. They will leave sooner than later, I suspect.
