We are seeing a rising increase in children coming through our children's emergency center with injuries.

We are seeing anything from soft tissue injuries to major injuries that can involve paralysis from the lap belt, to thoracic injuries from the shoulder belt.

We see the statistics just like everybody else.

Because they were properly restrained they had minimal injury.

There was really nothing out here for them to look at.

[Most of the families are from Mexico, others from Haiti; many of the children were born in far-flung American farming towns and thus are U.S. citizens.] The Haitian and Mexican kids are very distant -- they don't know each other's culture, ... We try to promote harmony.
