We are opposed to just rubber-stamping the [institute] recommendations. We don't have a problem adding [fruits and vegetables]. They just shouldn't come at the expense of dairy.

This historic collaboration was instrumental in bringing this long-fought battle to a close. A level playing field will now exist for all competitors, regardless of where their businesses are located.

As we approach the 2007 Farm Bill, we hope this marks the beginning of a willingness by Congress to reevaluate U.S. dairy policy to reflect today's ever-changing marketplace.

Rep. Nunes has led this effort for many years and been a tireless advocate on this issue.

We commend the President for signing this piece of legislation. His action today brings this long-fought battle to a close.
