We are monopolists in the field of politics. We can't stand any competition. We can tolerate no rivals. The working class, to make the revolution can do it only through one party and one program. This is the lesson of the Russian Revolution. That is the lesson of all history since the October Revolution.

No strike could ever be won with a Communist at its head since the employers would make victory impossible.

We don't see ourselves in competition with newspapers. We are not going to replace newspapers' professional editors and reporters. We are providing very local news that the community generates -- the Little League games, the traffic light down the street that needs to be replaced.

Every good newspaper is muckraking to some degree. It's part of our job. Where there's muck, we ought to rake it.

There are two Americas - and millions of the people already distinguish between them. One is the America of the imperialists - of the little clique of capitalists, land lords and militarists, who are threatening and terrifying the world. This is the America the people of the world hate and fear. There is the other America - the America of the workers and farmers and the 'little people.'

Sometimes in politics one must duel with skunks, but no one should be fool enough to allow the skunks to choose the weapons.
