We are a community-minded family. We were raised to give back.

My granddaddy was Man of the Year for Agriculture in 1950 for the whole county. He blended the socialism from his parents with capitalism.

He could have owned the thing outright. But he didn't. He went door to door and sold shares so the community could share in the bank and own a part of it.

We could have sold that property and made a lot of money, selling it to some distribution center that would just mean a lot of trucks going in and out.

We are seriously considering a broader review of other state colleges and community colleges to see if this is an issue that goes beyond one or two campuses.

Community service is wherever there is a need, and whatever you think that you can do.
