To put it in perspective, this tornado today or this series of tornadoes will probably rank equal to all of the tornadoes that we had in the entire year last year, ... So that will give you some perspective of just what an incredible disaster this has been for our state.

We're doing everything in our power to be a good neighbor, ... Our office has been flooded by calls today from people asking what they can do. The best things they can do now is lend a helping hand to those who are in our state to escape the storm, making a donation to the Red Cross disaster relief fund and pray for those who are still trapped.

If the state surplus is used in part or in whole for this, it will have been used for as valid a need as we've ever had,

We don't have to educate their kids, ... Twenty, 30, 50, 60 years from now, musical heritage will still be a part of us. I think it's a great idea.

I've said that, that I've felt like as Christians and particularly even as Republicans, we needed to address issues that touched the broader perspective, and that included disease, hunger, poverty, homelessness, the environment.
