Through mutual understanding, sincerity and goodwill, and with great wisdom and broad views, the leaders on both sides should jointly initiate new opportunities for peace, stability, cooperation and mutual benefit.

Despite our repeated goodwill to seek reconciliation, cooperation and peace on both sides of the [Taiwan] Strait, the other side shows no respect for the feelings of the Taiwan people and rudely forces Taiwan to accept communist China's 'one China' and 'one country, two systems',

I believe that this is not only the view of the people on both sides of the Strait. It is also the common expectation of the US, Japan and the international community.

I should like to show my sincerity and goodwill again and invite the leader of the other side (of the Taiwan Strait) to a talk without any precondition,

Both sides should demand a speedy trial.

I left school early in my last year before I took my A-levels. I wasn't expelled. It was just a mutual understanding. I wasn't interested in going to school and they said, 'You're not turning up,' so we severed ties. Both sides appreciated it.
