This was the heart of the European community when this area was settled. This is a prime site that calls for public art.

The magnificent heart of the Pawling community has been displayed in the tremendous response to this event. We still have ideas that can be sponsored or hosted by people and organizations. People should call me for information at Pawling High School at 855-4620.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such generous philanthropists in our community like Stanley and Dorothy Pauley. The Pauley Heart Center will be a very visible and lasting legacy, and I am confident that many people with cardiac disease will benefit from their gift.

You've got to figure out what you do best as a community. We sometimes get enthralled with the idea of high-tech. But it's all about innovation. And tourism can be very innovative. Health care can be very innovative.

When you see all we do at the local level and how we make the arts community aware of Sioux City at a national level, I can't imagine a better use of funds. Our symphony is 90 years old. It's one of the oldest orchestras in the country. It's been one of the best supported by its community and certainly it is my hope it will continue.

We have two concerns. One, the civic and environmental community was not part of the process and two, we don't feel the town did the extensive search they should have done.
