This shows exactly what they think of democracy and peoples' right to protest over a war that the overwhelming majority of people in Britain think was wrong.

We believe that a peaceful solution to the chaos caused by the illegal war in Iraq will only be possible when the occupying foreign armies have all been removed so that the Iraqi people will be free to decide on their own political future.

If we reject, as we must, the doctrine that the majority is always right, to submit moral issues to the vote is to gamble that what we believe to be right will come out of the ballot with more votes behind it than what we believe to be wrong; and that is a gamble we will often lose.

I believe that if the silent majority were to protest against those who believe in irrational blind faith - who want to go backwards instead of forward, who are for tradition not innovation, who oppose individualism and plurality of thought - then the world would become a truly civilized world in which to live.

It is appropriate to protest, that's their right after all. But I don't think it's their right to protest violently, to destroy embassies, missions, properties.

This is ridiculous. If they are legal, they have a right to protest. But if they're not, they should be arrested and deported right now. But the police are just standing there watching.
