This program is not about immigration. The program is about whether the situation along both our borders — northern and southern — and our coasts, if it poses a problem in our war on terrorism … It's a very important topic for America right now.

...and it strikes her, as she walks, that borders, like hatred, are exaggerated precisely because otherwise they would cease to exist altogether. 

I want to lay down, but these countries are like uncles who touch you when you're young and asleep. Look at all these borders foaming at the mouth with bodies broken and desperate...I spent days and nights in the stomach of the truck; I did not come out the same. Sometimes it feels like someone else is wearing my body.

Where our Southern Border battles a great deal of illegal immigration, the Northern Border's threats are more often drug, gun, and money smuggling by criminal organizations, ... These unique threats call for trained law-enforcement professionals who are skilled in dealing with organized crime and our border's unique geography.

I was in a great situation here and wasn't about to give up a great program for something that I didn't think that we could get done. Looking at the facilities they have and I've visited with a lot of people and I know there's a lot of talent right now in the younger classes but I'm not going to give up on those older classes.

They have done great things for the Northern program, for our team and for each of us. They have meant a lot to us, and we want to keep the season going for them.
